The quality of Vietnamese rice has been recognised more in recent years, but inconsistency and logistical challenges are holding back its potential, experts said.
While 2020 has been a successful year for Vietnamese rice exports, more must be done to accelerate the development of the national rice brand, experts have said.
With an abundant global supply and high inventory in major exporting countries, Viet Nam is expected to struggle to secure exports of rice in the second half of the year.
Viet Nam exported 1.42 million tonnes of rice for a total free-on-board
value of US$577.28 million in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase
of 57.7 per cent in volume and 51.16 per cent in value.
